Also known as Yellow Avens or Common Avens, this is a lovely little plant native to most of the temperate northern hemisphere from eastern Europe across Asia and North America.

It is a very reliable and hardy herbaceous perennial, growing to 1 m tall with palm shaped leaves. The delicate looking flowers are 2 cm diameter, yellow, with five to seven toothed petals. They are a wonderful filler in the garden and cope with more moist conditions than most. Plant in full sun for the best blooms. They look especially lovely with their tall flower stalks around ponds and water features.

Grows to 40 cm tall and 30cm wide.
