Muscari armeniacum | Siberian Tiger

Muscari armeniacum | Siberian Tiger

Muscari Siberian Tiger, also known as grape hyacinth, is a perennial bulb plant that blooms in the spring with white flowers. It has beautiful lime green buds that open into pure white flowers with a pronounced topknot. It has strappy foliage as most bulbs do, and can grow up to 15 cm tall. In the spring, their dense flower spikes have a sweet fragrance. It's a hardy bulb that blooms in mid-spring, at the same time as daffodils and tulips. Once planted, the bulbs multiply and return to bloom again year after year.

Grape hyacinth makes an outstanding border plant and is fantastic for naturalizing. For the best visual effect, plant in groups. It's also attractive under deciduous shrubs because the flowering period comes when the shrubs are still bare.

To care for Muscari after it blooms, you can deadhead it by cutting off the heads and leaving the leaves and stems for six weeks. This will fill up the bulb with energy for the next year. Such a little cutie!
