Beautiful 30cm long racemes of dark mauve blossoms appear before the foliage in early spring. The divine fragrance delights as it wafts through the garden.

Make sure you give this vigorous climber a strong framework and room to grow, and it will reward you for many years. 

Prune in summer after the blooms have faded, back to the 5th bud to tidy and to ensure new blooms for the following year. 

They are especially lovely growing up pergolas as we have them here at Addenbrooke.
