Campanula poscharskyana | Blue Waterfall | Trailing Bellflower
This gorgeous Campanula is native to Serbia and Croatia, which means it's very hardy, and will survive quite hard frosts. This makes it a great value plant, despite it looking so delicate! They grow along the ground, reaching about 20–25 cm long, and then grow upwards, with the flowers about 10cm above the ground. The lovely flowers are lavender-blue, star shaped and bloom from mid-spring to early autumn.
Vigorous and fast growing, it is able to stand drying out once established in a wall. It will self-seed into cracks in walls and paving. I love to see the carpet of lavender blue everywhere! So reminiscent of my Grandmothers garden. she had it over rock walks and along the back of steps, such a picture every year. Plant with moist compost to get it going. Trim back with shears in autumn, but don't bother fertilizing it, it will go ahead and do its thing once established. Enjoy!!
