Hosta 'Loyalist' is a striking perennial known for its bold foliage. It features thick, heart-shaped leaves with a creamy white center and a wide, blue-green margin. The contrast between the colors make it a popular choice for adding visual interest to shade gardens. In summer, it produces lavender, bell-shaped flowers on tall stalks, which further enhances its ornamental value.

Hostas prefer partial to full shade. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Plant in well-draining soil rich in organic matter is ideal. Amend the soil with compost to improve fertility and drainage. Water regularly, especially during dry periods. Keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. In colder climates, they may die off in the winter but should re-emerge in spring.

You can fertilize in spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to excessive leaf growth at the expense of the plant's overall health. Remove dead or yellowing leaves to keep the plant looking tidy. You may wish to divide clumps every few years in early spring or fall to maintain vigor and prevent overcrowding. This also ensures good air circulation. Avoiding overhead watering can help prevent potential development of fungal diseases. Hostas are also a favourite snack to slugs and snails, so be sure to use control methods such as traps, organic repellents or molluscicide to keep them at bay.
