Monarda didyma | Ou Charm
Monarda Ou Charm is a pretty bee balm as it is commonly known that has clusters of two lipped tubular pale pink flowers above purple bracts. The stems are dark purple with aromatic mid green coloured leaves and this lovely plant flowers from mid-summer through to early autumn.
With most Monarda, they do tend to suffer from powdery mildew, so plants will appreciate some space and airflow although often if planted amongst other plants, this is often barely noticeable. A magnet for bees as the name suggests, Monarda also make a lovely aromatic cut flower.
A pretty plant that is low maintenance that looks wonderful in a cottage style garden as well as the more naturalistic plantings that are now becoming popular. Happy in full sun or a partially shaded area in a moist but well drained soil - we mulch to keep in moisture during summer. Plants can be cut back after flowering and remain dormant over the winter period to reappear in spring.
