Penstemon digitalis | Huskers Red
This award winning perennial has deep wine red stems that have large bell shaped white flowers with a dusting of light pink that are approximately 2.5cm in length.
The flower stems stand tall above the striking lush foliage which is lance shaped and stained red in colour. Huskers Red is a versatile perennial and also makes a fabulous cut flower.
Flowering is from late spring through to early summer, this Penstemon grows vigorously with flower stems to about 75-80cm with a spread of about 45cm wide.
Adds great vertical interest to the garden and provides both a bold and striking display in garden borders and is the perfect choice for the cottage garden. Also great in coastal gardens and rock gardens
Best grown in full sun in dry to medium moisture soils. Drought tolerant once established. Dislikes wet feet so drainage is key. Penstemons need barely any moisture once established and no fertiliser. Attracts butterflies to the garden.
