One of our most planted Salvias here at Puriri Lane, we just love it for its long flowering season which is from spring right through until the first frost.
Love & Wishes Salvia has beautiful papal carmine coloured flowers that emerge from papery, dark burgundy bracts that hang gracefully on tall wavy plummy coloured stems that sit high above the mid to deep green leaves. Easy and fast growing this plant is also a favourite of butterflies. It is an excellent choice for both the border and containers and really only requires the odd prune in early spring to tidy it up.
Love & Wishes enjoys full sun in average soil but does like good drainage to perform at its best. It is also quite happy in partial shade in very hot climates. Removing spent flowers will encourage more blooms. Can tolerate temperatures down to about minus 1 but that is about as cold as it will tolerate.
