Stachys byzantina | Big Ears

Stachys byzantina | Big Ears

Big Ears is a beautiful and outstanding stachys variety that has much broader and bigger leaves, the leaves are also not as heavily felted so the leaves have a less "frosty dusted" look to them.  The leaves are a velvety silver grey-green.

The flower spikes which appear on squared stems are taller and a mauvey colour, but this variety seldom blooms and we are yet to see a flower on ours but love the colour and the larger leaves, and the fact that it looks fabulous all through the summer and autumn with no care required.

A fantastic plant for carpeting large areas particularly in poor soil but its preferred position is a sunny spot in a well drained position.  The other great point with this plant is that once it is established, it is particularly drought tolerant and given our ever changing climate, this is a great advantage with this plant. The plants are extremely tolerant of both heat and humidity.

The plants are vigorous and great as an edging plant as well as great for in a pot.  Can be easily divided to provide more plants in either autumn or early spring. This variety is also fantastic for floral work and bouquets because of the bigger sized leaves so a must for the cutting patch.

Height to 60cm x spreading

Evergreen | Hardy

Pot Size: 2.5 Litres
