This lovely Abutilon or Chinese Lantern translated means bowl of snow.
A hardy variety that grows well in full sun or partial shade, but in hotter areas will appreciate afternoon shade. This is an evergreen shrub that will flower prolifically from spring to autumn and in some areas throughout the year. The dainty dangling white flowers have a translucency that is a real lift particularly in shaded areas. Abutilons appreciate a humus rich well drained soil. Mulching will help to retain moisture. Easy care but you can apply a general purpose fertilise in spring but be sure to water in well.
They are not hardy to frost so a protected shady area is where they will flourish.
If you wish you can prune hard in spring and a little bit of a tidy up in summer by tip pruning if you think it is required.
