Cornus alba | Elegantissima | Siberian Dogwood
Cornus alba 'Elegantissima' also known as the Redtwig Dogwood, is well known for its erect, red stems, which are particularly striking in the winter months when the bare stems take on a glowing-scarlet colour- depending on how cold they get. This is great shrub for those wetter areas as it can tolerate very wet growing conditions. In spring it bears fresh green leaves with white margins, cream bunches of spring flowers, and blue-white fruit that follow in Summer. In the autumn, the leaves of this Dogwood turn orange and red, the perfect seasonal colours. To promote new growth, cut back old stems to the ground every few years. Truly a great all year round-er! Plant in a sunny spot for the best growth, adding compost each year as it gets cut back.
Grows to 3 m tall and 2 m wide. Fabulous plant!
Pot size: 4.7 Litre
