Galtonia candicans is known as a summer Hyacinth and is a native of South Africa. It has lovely dark green strap-like foliage and sends up spikes of beautiful white scented flowers in late summer just as many other summer perennials are coming to an end. 

The pretty bell-shaped white flowers are tinged with green and also make a stunning cut flower.  Galtonia is, in fact, a bulb and it prefers a moist full sun position.  We mulch ours to keep the moisture in over the summer period.  It will die back in Winter to re-emerge again in spring. As the plants get bigger it will have offsets which can be removed in spring to give you new plants. Can also be planted in a pot. Loved by bees and butterflies
