Geum chiloense | Mrs Bradshaw
Also known as Avens, this evergreen perennial Geum offers a flash of hot colour in the garden border. Plants form a low clump of coarse green leaves, with branching stems held high above the leaves bearing medium-sized rounded flowers.
Mrs Bradshaw variety has scarlet-orange, semi-double blooms. Removing spent flowers regularly will encourage new flowers. Plants can be pruned back hard after blooming, to rejuvenate the foliage. Clumps should be divided every 3 to 4 years in spring or autumn to promote strong growth and continued flowering. Flowers from late spring through to late summer. An excellent cut flower - the heads after the petals drop are also very pretty to use in floral work.
