This little cutie Helenium puberulum - also known as Rosilla and Autumn Lollipop looks super cute and just like a little lollipop!
This little plant is actually a member of the sunflower family and has round bronze brown flower sits atop a basal frill of down-turned petals that sit on flat stems. An excellent choice as a cut flower
Like with other Heleniums, cut the flower stems down to the ground once flowering has finished. Plant in full sun for best flowering although a little light shade is fine. These plants like regular moisture as do other Heleniums and the plant is actually found naturally growing by creeks so mulching will help to retain moisture and watering regularly during dry spells will ensure profuse flowering.
Loved by both bees and butterflies and birds love the seed. We read that these plants do self-sow readily if they like where they are situated, but volunteers that look like this are welcome in our garden and we simply relocate them to other areas of the garden or give them to our gardening friends! Great also for pots.
