Scabiosa columbaria subsp. ochroleuca
Scabiosa columbaria subsp. ochroleuca is a clump-forming, very pretty dainty perennial. In the summer, the plants bear tall wiry stems that stand proudly above the finely cut leaves. It bears many pale lemon flowers in the typical petalled, pincushion style of Scabiosas.
These gorgeous little plants flower for weeks on end in late summer for months on end - often we find up to five months. These plants will thrive in a sunny well drained spot and have the added advantage of seeding themselves about- so you can easily relocate any unwanted little ones to other areas of your garden, or gift to gardening friends as this will be a welcome addition to their gardens. As with all Scabiosa plants they are a magnet for bees and butterflies.
These little flowers are also great for cutting and last well in a vase, so the perfect choice for your cutting garden as well as your perennial border. Deadhead to encourage reflowering - also great in a pot, but remember to feed with a liquid fertiliser to keep up the flowering ability.
