Penstemon | Port Wine
Penstemon Port Wine has stunning panicles of bell-shaped wine-red flowers and flowers from early summer and into autumn although we have found that plants have continued to flower into winter here with the mild winters we have been experiencing of late.
Flowers are great for cutting and can last up to one week in a vase. Deadheading will encourage additional flowering. Port Wine enjoys a full sun position although it will cope with some partial shade but likes protection from strong winds. Plants should be left in winter and then cut back in late spring. A lovely plant for a mixed cottage style border. Loved by bees.
