Persicaria amplexicaulis is a vigorous perennial hardy upright perennial which forms bushy clumps of large green leaves with abundant stems of red flowers that sit atop the leaves. Persicaria thrives in average soil, and does not mind clay but does enjoy a bit of moisture and is an excellent candidate for edging ponds or streams, whilst being equally at home in the perennial border. 

Happy in full sun however, some shade is appreciated in hot and humid areas.  The flowering season is summer through autumn.    Liked by butterflies.  The flowers are also excellent for cutting and for drying.
