Aquilegia vulgaris | William Guinness | Granny's Bonnet | Columbine
A beautiful star shaped deep red/purple coloured Aquilegia, its delicate looking petals have a pronounced white edge, making them look like a pint of Guinness! This garden favourite blooms for weeks in spring, rising their lovely little nodding heads above soft bluish green, ferny foliage. Another of our must have garden treasures!
Perfect little doers under deciduous trees, where they self-seed freely. This is a short-lived perennial, but if you leave the seed heads on them, you'll have them forever. Great cut flowers too! Make sure to cut them low down and plunge them quite deeply into cold, cold water for long-lasting results. I like to pick them with a mix of blooms and seed heads as they're pretty too and add a lovely texture to posies.
Prefers part shade but does just as well with morning sun. This one grows 1m tall and 50 cm wide in bloom.
Pot Size: 2.5 Litre
