Campanula lactiflora | Milky Bellflower
Lovely, large clustering heads of deep violet blue star shaped flowers on branching stems throughout summer. The medium green leaves are lance shaped and set off the beautiful blooms. These are grown from seed and may occasionally produce flowers which are pink, pale blue or white.
The large clusters of flowers appear from late summer through to autumn, and the plants grow to about 60cm tall and wide, and the display is spectacular in the mid border of the garden, with bees and butterflies flocking to them.
This is an old cottage garden classic and has always been appreciated for its elegance.
Grow in full sun or partial shade, in moist but well drained fertile soil. This will encourage plenty of growth and flowers.
It will retain its flower colour best in partial shade, and makes an excellent, no fuss cut flower, and so pretty!
