A stunning hybrid, which is a cross between Euphorbia characias ssp. wulfenii and Euphorbia amygdaloides, Euphorbia Jade Dragon forms a compact plant with attractive reddish-purple growth in late spring that change to a blue green. attractive chartreuse flower bracts appear from early summer that last for weeks into often late summer. Fast growing, plants are happy in full sun or partial shade and are not fussy with soil type so sandy or clay is fine.
An excellent cut flower. The best time to harvest the flowers is when they are fully coloured but not completely open. Due to the milky sap that is exuded from the stems which is both a skin and eye irritant and toxic, you should wear gloves when cutting the flower stems. Sear stem ends for 7-10 seconds in boiling water. Use caution and wear gloves when harvesting. Expect a vase life of 7 days.
