Knautia macedonica is a perennial that has masses of crimson coloured pincushion flowers, which are about 3-4cm in size and blooming from early summer right through into autumn. If it likes where you have positioned it, you will find that this floriferous plant will self-sow. Preferred growing conditions are medium moisture but well-drained in full sun.
Once established Knautia are quite drought tolerant. An excellent cut flower that also looks great dried. Looks particularly pretty mixed with blues, purples and terracotta-coloured flowers. Suits cottage gardens, naturalistic plantings as well as looking great in the mixed border as well as being suited to a pot. An excellent cut flower loved by bees and butterflies
