This must have shrub is a beautiful addition to the garden with flowers that are excellent for both cutting and drying. This cultivar is widely grown for the cut flower trade. 

Ozothamnus diosmifolius was previously known as Helichrysum diosmifolius and has many other names such as Sago Flower and Rice Flower.

Ozothamnus diosmifolius - Royal Flush  is a small shrub with an open habit that has aromatic leaves but is prized  for its clusters of flowers.  The buds are almost cerise opening to a rich pink. This plant flowers in both winter and spring.  If you are using for cutting, then trimming will encourages a fresh flush of new blooms, and you can continue to do this throughout the season, it will also help to keep the plant more compact as without trimming they can become quite straggly. 

If using for cutting,  harvest in full bud before the small flowers open. Do not put in water. Dry in a cool dry place and hang upside down and then use in your dried floral arrangements.

A pretty addition to the garden, as a feature plant or this plant even performs will in a pot as once established it has low water needs so is quite drought tolerant once established.

Plants like good drainage - a great coastal plant as happy in sandy soil and actually prefers poorer soil conditions -  happy in full sun or part shade. Tolerates light frost. Loved by bees and butterflies.
