Salvia x jamensis | Royal Bumble

Salvias are part of the mint family and are recognisable by their square stems. There are so many varieties to choose from, whether it be a garden perennial or a herb, usually known as sage. They can be annuals or biennial too! It will be hard to choose your favourite! Here at Puriri Lane at Addenbrooke, we have a lovely selection to choose from to buy, and to look at in our gardens. We hope to keep adding to this collection as we find new treasures!

Salvia x jamensis 'Royal Bumble' has the most intense scarlet red blooms we've ever seen on a Salvia! Eye-popping blooms stand out against black calyxes and prominent, black, upright stems. Grows to 60cm tall and wide with a neat bushy habit, it never stops blooming from mid spring until well into autumn, attracting all the bees and butterflies. šŸ Prune back a bit annually to maintain tidiness. Does best in well-drained soil, in full sun. Side-dress with compost in Spring to keep it happy.
