Sanguisorba officinalis | Little Red Tanna
Little Red Tanna is a dwarf variety of Sanguisorba. Similar in form and shape but only grows to around 30 x 30cm at full size.
This Sanguisorba gives a lovely wispy effect with their fronds of toothed foliage. The flower stems rise up above the leaves and are almost like fluffy, raspberry coloured miniature bottle brushes. The stems are upright at first and then droop as the flower matures.
Sanguisorbas are generally trouble free to grow. They prefer a well drained soil and are happy in either sun or part shade. They are winter dormant perennials so do die down over winter and pop up again with the warmer weather.
Great for the cottage garden, and the flowers do pick well too.
